About Outdoor Fire Detectors

fcam3Conventional fire detection systems such as smoke detectors can reliably work in confined spaces.

Indoors, smoke detectors can detect smoke, heat or flame without much troubles.

On the other hand, reliable fire detection for the outdoors had been a problem in the past. There had not been any means to detect fires say in forests, parks or large commercial spaces, unless such locations had been overseen by people in person

With the advent of outdoor fire detectors, this however is changing. Modern outdoor fire detectors systems can now detect fires also in such locations where it was impossible just several years ago.

What are outdoor fire detectors?

An outdoor fire detector such as a digital fire camera works entirely different as compared to a smoke detector. These devices are combining CCTV camera technology with advanced software. They are detecting fires by constantly monitoring and analysing a video feet in real time.

What are the advantages of outdoor fire detectors?

Unlike smoke detectors and other fire detection systems, a fire camera does not need to be in the immediate vicinity of a potential fire. They can monitor outdoor locations remotely from a distance. Modern fire cameras have a range of several hundred of metres. In addition to that, a fire camera can also monitor a much wider space and they are able to detect multiple fires should they occur.

Where can outdoor fire detectors be used?

Outdoor fire detection systems are in particular well suited for outdoor locations, which may include industrial complexes, large structures and buildings, forests, beaches, shopping malls, sports stadiums and many more. But most fire cameras can also reliably work in the indoors.

How difficult is it to install a fire camera?

It is easy to integrate a modern fire camera in any existing CCTV system. Conventional surveillance cameras can simply be replaced by a fire camera. The fire camera can then not only reliably detect fires, but it can also work as a normal CCTV camera.
